This July brings the 25th edition of the Recent Graduates show at Blackfish Gallery. This much anticipated summer event showcases some of Oregon's most gifted young artists representing the thirteen Oregon colleges and universities that offer BAs, BFAs and MFAs in Fine Art. Twenty six recent graduates were selected by their art faculty to exhibit during this milestone year. This year’s cohort presents work in photography, sculpture, drawing, painting, digital and other media. The year’s show offers viewers an opportunity to see what themes engage this generation of artists, andhow the art object is continually being reshaped.
The thirteen participating schools are: Eastern Oregon University, George Fox University, Lewis & Clark College, Linfield University, Oregon State University, Pacific Northwest College of Art, Pacific University, Portland State University, Reed College, Southern Oregon University, University of Oregon, Western Oregon University and Willamette University.
The fourth annual Lawrence Duckler New Arts Award will be presented to the artist whose work garners the most audience votes throughout the exhibition. The award comes with a $300 cash prize and the opportunity for a month-long installation in Blackfish’s Fishbowl window gallery. The prize is named in honor of Dr. Lawrence Duckler, a staunch supporter of the arts in Portland who believed in the importance of art and artists in our society and the impact of their imagination on our present and future lives. Voting will take place in the gallery and online via the form below. The numbers to vote are listed in the description of the works in the image gallery.
