What are the forces shaping the development of Portland’s emerging artists? How do arts education, the art marketplace, as well as efforts to brand the artist through work statements, monographs and other packaging efforts influence the success and satisfaction of artists? How do arts professionals in Portland negotiate the tricky dance between creativity and commerce?
This panel discussion brings to the inquiry the viewpoints of local MFA faculty members, gallerists, and artists to the inquiry. At stake is something fundamental: creating the best environment for creativity to flourish in our community.
