NOVEMBER 2015: Greg Conyne: Wood on Wood -- Robert R. Dozono: Garbage Paintings and Other Works

In his latest sculptural series, Greg Conyne has created three-dimensional puzzles in the form of wooden boxes and shrines that engage the viewer in a game of concealment and revelation. Each box or shrine sits atop its own custom-designed table, and each object offers clues to the contents concealed within on its exterior face.

Robert Dozono bears witness to the tragic impact humans have on the natural environment in his garbage paintings. Dozono carefully arranges trash and other found objects on large, irregularly-shaped canvasses, selectively concealing parts with oil paint, causing them to recede into the picture plane and resolve into loose, colorful landscape images.
